Massachusetts Divorce - Child Support
In Massachusetts, the amount of child support that you will have
to pay or may be entitled to receive is determined by the Child
Support Guidelines. Those guidelines are formulas which, based on
the income of both parties, the number of children, and other
factors, determine the amount of child support.
In Massachusetts, child support must be paid until the child
attains his or her eighteenth birthday, unless the child becomes
emancipated by getting married, entering the military service, or
becoming self-sufficient financially, or graduates high school and
is not attending a higher education institute. If the child is
attending an accredited university or college, then child support
may continue until the child reaches his or her twenty third
birthday.
